Steps to apply for IELTS

  1. The test fee is $319.00 CAD including HST.
  2. Only a valid passport or Canadian Permanent Residence Cards are accepted.
  3. You MUST have the original identification you used when registering for the test in hand on test day. Otherwise you will not be permitted to take the test and you will forfeit your test fee.
  4. You may request to have up to five (5) copies of your Test Report Form sent to receiving organizations (a company, government agency or university) at the time of application.
  5. For TRF requests made after we accept your application, there is a fee of $25 for each additional copy.
  6. There are no refunds if you cancel or postpone your test less than five weeks before the test or if you do not show up for the test without prior notice.

  • If you postpone or cancel your application more than 5 weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administrative charge of $80. Transfer dates depend on availability.
  • No refunds are given for transfers or cancellations within 5 weeks of the test date. If you postpone or cancel within 5 weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee. You must re-apply.
  • If you miss the test because you are ill, you must provide a medical certificate within 5 days of the test date. You will receive a refund minus an administrative charge of $80.

Candidates seeking cancellation or transfer within the five-week period prior to the test date will only receive a refund/transfer if they can provide evidence that their ability to sit the test has been affected by serious illness or cause:

  • Serious illness - hospital admission or serious injury.
  • Loss or bereavement - death of a close family member.
  • Hardship/trauma - victim of crime, victim of traffic accident.
  • Military service.

Candidates must file an application for refund or transfer no later than five (5) working days after the test date. You must complete a "Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form" and attach appropriate documentation and/or evidence: medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate or a police report.

If you miss your IELTS test due to illness, you must supply a doctor’s note within 5 days post test. The doctor’s note must be in English, on letterhead paper, stamped and signed by the doctor, state the doctor’s credentials and state both the illness and how this prevented you from taking the test. The note must also indicate the test date. A medical note which misses any of these requirements will be disregarded. Upon approval by the IELTS Administrator, a $80 fee is required. Once the fee has been paid, we can transfer or refund your test.



Refunds are paid by cheque and usually take three to four (3-4) weeks from the date of the request to be processed and mailed.

Absent or Late Arrival on Test Day

If a candidate is absent on the day of the test, the candidate will lose the full test fee and must re-apply.

If a candidate is late arriving on test day, the candidate will not be admitted and is ineligible for any refund.
